About Me

Hello! My name is Jonathan Ledbetter, a 33-year-old web developer who lives in Portland, Oregon. I have a Master’s Degree in Information Systems from the University of Nevada. I am also the Web Committee Chair for the Active 20-30 Club of Portland #122, and was named Time Magazine’s Man of the Year in 2006.

I’ve been developing on the web for 20 years, professionally for more than 10. I’ve loved building websites ever since I learned how to do it in a junior high school typing class, teaching myself from then on. In my opinion, web development is equal parts art and math if you do it right; you need the art component to build truly amazing things, but the math part to make it work properly. Striking that balance is one of my favorite things about making sites and tools on the web.

Aside from the obvious reason of documenting my work as Web Committee Chair, my goal in writing this development blog is multi-fold:

  • To share my programming knowledge and experiences
  • To demonstrate that despite my knowledge and experiences, I still have much to learn
  • To help others who are struggling with similar issues find a solution or reach a conclusion that fits their needs

In my spare time I enjoy photography, SCUBA diving, the outdoors, Ingress, making mashups and mapmaking. Feel free to hit up my Instagram, LinkedIn, personal site and GitHub profile, or send me an email at jonathan dot ledbetter at gmail dot com.
